road trip 2009!

What a long weekend!  …or should I say, What a LONG long weekend! lol  I’m in dire need of some quality sleep to make up for the lack of it these days. I had about three hours of sleep before our road trip on Sunday. Needless to say, I was pretty pooped by the time we hit the road.

Danny picked me up at about 7am that morning. After we picked up Adrienne, we made a few pit-stops downtown for gas, Starbucks, and Timmies before officially starting our journey. Sure enough, it started raining as soon as we left the city. Our first stop was in Niagara Falls for breakfast at Denny’s.

Danny and I had been craving Denny’s breakfast since the last time we had it in ‘Sauga after Paul’s gig. (I secretly don’t think it’s possible to ever get a real Denny’s fix; it’s too addictive lol) While Danny had the Heartland Scramble, I tried the Meat Lover’s Scramble, and Adrienne had the…errr, SENIOR Breakfast hahaha The look on our waiter’s face was priceless when he set down the “senior” meal in front Adrienne. I think he was a little bit confused lol

By the time we finished breakfast, it had stopped raining and the sun had came out. The weather was beautiful and it pretty much remained that way for the rest of the day. The drive to Buffalo was enjoyable (I love riding long distance!). Adri was so tired she fell asleep in the car. We were lucky to have Mr. Solo driving; not only did he make sure his passengers were comfortable throughout the ride, he also always had good music playing.

Our first stop was at the Fashion Outlets. There really wasn’t anything good to buy there. We were pretty much out of there in an hour. Then we were back in the car to head over to Walden Galleria. Adrienne fell asleep again as soon as we got in the car. Boy was she tired! :p

We were lucky we weren’t traveling in the opposite direction on the freeway. There was an accident on the bridge and the two-lane road was completely backlogged. The length of the traffic jam was equivalent to us driving 8 minutes in the opposite direction. You can imagine how long those guys had to sit and wait, not knowing what happened up ahead.

Shopping at Walden was alright, not much to buy either. We spent the remainder of the day there and only ended up finishing the bottom level. Dinner was between The Cheesecake Factory or the Melting Pot. We ended up at the CF because it had a larger menu.

The food was yummy, but we had the dumbest waiter around. He messed up on something every time he came by. Besides the poor service of our waiter and the fact that Adrienne and I just about froze to death sitting under the AC vent, we had a good time there. We just sat and chatted until about 10:45pm. After we left the restaurant, I suggested we take a long walk around the mall. I love the feeling of walking through an empty mall when everything has closed and the lights have dimmed. We played with gum ball machines, danced to music that played from inside stores, and Adrienne even tried sitting in the little “mall racer” carts lol It was fun! :)

Danny’s car was the only car left in the lot when we finally made it outside. We just hung around chatting under the parking lot lights until Danny decided to take a nap before hitting the road. Adrienne and I couldn’t stop laughing at Danny’s getup; he tried to sleep in the back seat with a sweater around his neck as a pillow and sunglasses on to keep the lights out of his eyes. He looked like he was tanning in the dark! lol It was hilarious!! While Danny and Adrienne took an hour nap, I just sat in the car and enjoyed an hour of peace and quiet. I watched the clouds float across the night sky and it was interesting to see it turn from cloudy to completely clear skies.

It was about 2am when we hit the road again. We stopped by Duty-free on our way back and Adrienne got to make out with Jack Daniel there LOL ;) It was 5:30am when Danny dropped me home. I was extremely tired but the sun had begun to rise, so I stayed up to watch the sunrise for a little bit before I crawled into bed at 6am.

day 9 of 11

I’m almost there. Somehow I’ve managed to make it to day 9 of 11 consecutive work days without losing much of my sanity. Now that’s a rarity.

It hasn’t sunk in yet – the fact that I’ll be going away in less than 3 weeks. I mean, I probably won’t really feel it until I’ve checked in and is waiting to board the plane. But nonetheless, it’s something to look forward to. I just happen to be working a lot throughout the month of March because of my bosses being away. It kinda makes me lose focus on the trip. When I actually have a few days off next week, I’m thinking I should start packing. Otherwise, I’ll be working 6 consecutive days the last week I’m here. I could probably forget about getting anything done at that point.

Last week, I found myself a new toy. It took me weeks to find it in-stock, but the wait was definitely worth it. The Conair Infiniti NanoSilver Steam Hair Straightener has become the new staple item. I absolutely love what it does to my hair. The steam function is particularly useful and I would recommend it to everyone. What can you say, I’m a girl hehehe :)

And I just heard about Shrek the Musical! I had no idea it was on Broadway. The musical sounds like it’d be kinda fun to watch. Shrek was always one of my favourite movies so I think it’d be nice to see it one of these days. Which reminds me I still have to see Wicked lol

i’d rather be there…

Last night was one of the roughest nights I’ve had in a long time. I started feeling sick around midnight, and after throwing up I started having major abdominal pains. I’m used to having frequent stomach pains due to my irregular eating habits, but this time it felt unusual and it was right above the stomach. The pain was so consistent that I couldn’t even try to sleep it off. Needless to say, I suffered with it until almost 5:30am. I think that was the last time I checked the time. I remember thinking to myself that if the pain of going through labour is 10x worse than that, then I refuse to go through it at all!

Anyway, now that I’m feeling better, I wanted to share this with you guys. I was researching for my assignment this weekend when I came across this Sandals Resort in Antigua. I have fallen in love with it since. I’m sure there are many more beautiful places around the world, but for the moment this is where I’m wishing I was. This particular Sandals Resort has been voted as the World’s Leading Honeymoon Resort. From looking at the pictures, it’s no wonder they’ve held that title for four years in a row. I’d love to be a guest there one day. Just picture relaxing by the pool or having a nice fancy lunch while watching the waves.

Okay, so this is the only time you’ll ever hear me say this: who’s going to find me my millionaire husband?! hahaha Jokes aside, visit their photo gallery for pictures.

Road trip to Buffalo

I’m attempting to update this blog more frequently because I’m tired of sorting through my memory.

I initially booked off this weekend for a full weekend shopping trip in Buffalo with Georgia. But to refrain ourselves from indulging in too much shopping, we ended up doing it all in one day. So Saturday morning, we set out on our road trip. It had been gloomy and rainy all morning. To make matters worse, Georgia woke up that morning and realized she lost her wallet (or so she thought). Long story short, she left it on her desk at work the day before and was lucky to have been able to get into the office on Saturday morning to retrieve it. By 8:30am, we were ready to hit the road.

There was a delay on the road due to construction and then a half hour long line up to cross the bridge. Thankfully, Georgia had good music with her so we just blasted that in the car while traffic stalled. When we finally reached the U.S. border, Georgia realized she only had her driver’s license as ID which apparently is not sufficient. We were lucky they let us by. It was almost 11:30am when we reached the Fashion Outlets.

After grabbing a quick lunch, we roamed the outlet and found ourselves some deals at Coach, Guess? and Nine West. Before leaving, I stopped at the Oakley store. I finally got my Oakley’s!! :D I had been looking for a new pair of sunglasses since last summer but haven’t been able to find one suitable for my face. So when I saw the Oakley’s this time, I decided they had to come home with me.

Then we drove a half hour to the Galleria where we spent the remainder of the day shopping. I made my purchases at Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works to complete my day of shopping. During a quick stop at Starbucks, I discovered that tea is actually 30 cents more expensive in the U.S. than it is in Canada. I almost couldn’t believe I paid US$2.01 for tea.

We originally made reservations for dinner at the Melting Pot, but by 7pm we were finished the mall and the exhaustion had caught up to us. We bummed around until almost 9pm and decided to cancel our reservations, opting for a quick bite at Mickey D’s instead before hitting the road home. We were so tired.

The trip home felt a lot like the journey home from New York after the cruise. I felt almost as exhausted. I had a good time though, and now that I’ve put a $500 dent in my bank account, I’ll have to start saving up again for that new computer, printer, cell phone and iPod.
