I’ve missed 2 weeks of recap due to the excitement of seeing the Jabbawockeez perform, as well as exams in the following week. Honestly, I didn’t feel there was very much to highlight in those weeks anyway. This week though, I must say I was fairly impressed by Fanny Pak and SoReal Cru. Both their songs worked in their favours.
Judging by the live auditions, I never would’ve thought Fanny Pack would make it this far. I really didn’t like them at first. Since the “Speed Up Challenge” though, I’ve begun to enjoy their performances. I still don’t love their style, but I can learn to appreciate it. I sort of feel that their style is very raw and they seem to do best with upbeat songs.
There were a number of things that I liked about their routine this week. Sure, there was a lot of jumping around on stage (as some people have commented), but for the most part their routine was well choreographed. I liked the part at 0:37 – 0:40 and the Egyptian style at the end starting from 0:55. The fusing of such different dance styles makes the routine stand out among all the other typical hip hop routines. I liked that!
It’s all about the first ten seconds of their routine when it comes to SoReal Cru. That was definitely the best part. It’s impressive how precise they were. Overall, the routine was enjoyable, but I agree with JC that it wasn’t very difficult. As much as I liked their routine, I found their positioning and choreography just slightly repetitive; on some occasions it reminded me of their previous routines. But at least it wasn’t disappointing.
Up to this point, I’m still kind of iffy about Super Cr3w. Their routine for “Rock the Title Challenge” was probably the best I’ve seen from them. Choreography this week was much better, though. I liked how they bounced across the front of the stage. The ending was sick.
Boogie Bots finally went home. They’re nice guys and good dancers, but the WOW factor just wasn’t there. Having at least one good choreographer on the crew really makes a difference when it comes to a competition like this one. I’m not going to try and predict the outcome of the last few episodes because I know that there are a lot of other factors involved in the judging. I just wish that the top 3 crews were more versatile with their dancing and more consistent in their performances. Each of the 3 crews seem to ace it with one particular style; Fanny Pack – upbeat & fast, SoReal – slow & smooth, Super Cr3w – bboying. Let’s just say that whichever crew wins, they’ll be quite a step away from what the Jabbawockeez achieved last season.
